Program details:

  • Support for sabbatical leave.
  • Cover up to 4 months of station fees at one of OTS research stations.
  • Fellows are expected to give talks at OTS courses and enrich the academic environment of the station.
  • Number of fellowships limited to space availability at the research stations.

Elegibility: Priority will be given to: faculty from OTS member institutions. The fellowship will cover room and board for up to 4 months, and transportation to/from the airport, as well as database access and assistance. It will also consider a significant reduction in station fees for the fellow´s family.

Deadline: Applications may be submitted at any time in the year. Announcement of awardees will be made within three weeks. Applicants are encouraged to contact the station Directors to discuss space availability.

 

General Description and Scope

ECTF-SF supports scientists on sabbatical leave for up to 4 months.

Sabbatical fellows are expected to give at least one seminar at the station, give talks to OTS courses and contribute to the intellectual environment OTS research stations.

Elegibility

OTS accepts applications from nationals of any country and members of any institution. Priority will be given to scientists whose work includes assembly and synthesis of long-term or legacy data from OTS stations.

What the grant covers

The fellowship will cover room and board for up to 4 months, and transportation to/from the airport, as well as database access and assistance. It will also consider a significant reduction in station fees for the fellow´s family.

Application Process

Applicants should complete the application cover sheet (download) and submit a proposal. While there is no specific proposal format, it should include the following:

  • A description of the scope of the work they intend to accomplish, and whether this work involves assembly or synthesis of long-term or legacy data from OTS stations, and the expected products.
  • If applicable, it should indicate which data repositories they intend to submit their data at the end of their sabbatical.
  • Indicate the dates and the number of immediate family members that will accompany the applicant.
  • Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact the station Directors to discuss space availability, before submitting their proposal.
